Buy a little every month, or all at once?
Most DCA calculators show you the ending profit. This one also shows the part you'd have to live through: how far below the money you put in each way fell, and for how long. Real daily prices since 2021.

Regular buying
Value at the end–Deepest below the money put in–Longest stretch below it–All at the start
Value at the end–Deepest below the money put in–Longest stretch below it–Why look at the worst part, not just the end
The ending value tells you what happened if you held on. Whether you would have held on depends on the middle: watching what you put in sit well below cost for many months is where most people sell. Start in late 2021 and you'll see it: a lump sum spent a long time underwater, while regular buying kept lowering its average cost on the way down.
Neither way is always better. When prices mostly rise after you start, the lump sum usually ends higher. When they fall first, regular buying usually hurts less in the middle. Try a few start dates and look at both numbers.
Want to test your own rules, not just DCA?
Strategy Lab is planned: your own rules tested on five years of prices, with dead coins included, real fees and the worst drop shown first. It's built only if enough people join the waitlist.
For information only, not financial advice. Uses Binance spot daily opening prices from 1 January 2021 and ignores fees and taxes. Past prices never predict future ones.
